Chester's surveyors and civil engineers played a key role in the delivery of this resource-consented 111-lot residential subdivision at 117 Murphys Road, Flat Bush, providing integrated surveying, engineering and construction support services throughout the project lifecycle.

Chester involvement included lead consultant responsibilities, civil and structural design coordination, utilities coordination, topographical and cadastral surveying, Section 127 consent amendments, tender documentation and evaluation, contract administration, project management, construction monitoring (CM2-3), and Engineer to the Contract services under NZS 3910. Working alongside the client, contractors and specialist consultants, Chester helped navigate a range of complex challenges, including mixed ground conditions, significant earthworks requirements, and construction adjacent to major infrastructure assets.

The project involved the upgrade and extension of the local roading network to service a high-density residential development, including the extension of Hodges Road, new intersections, a roundabout, and integrated pedestrian and cycle facilities. Particular challenges included the construction of a large shear key, a stormwater detention basin on steep terrain, management of stormwater runoff, and careful coordination around existing infrastructure, including 220kV transmission cables, large-diameter bulk water mains and other underground services with limited cover. Through proactive risk management, robust design review, early contractor involvement, and close stakeholder collaboration, Chester assisted in delivering a high-quality and cost-effective development outcome while maintaining programme momentum and supporting informed decision-making throughout construction.
