Cardrona Valley Water Treatment Plant

Chester provided civil and structural engineering for a new greenfield water treatment facility serving Mt Cardrona Station and Cardrona Village.

Project Overview

Chester provided civil and structural engineering services to support Apex Water in the delivery of the Cardrona Valley Water Treatment Plant, a new greenfield facility developed to provide a secure drinking water supply for the Mt Cardrona Station development and Cardrona Village. The project involved the design and coordination of site earthworks, accessways, drainage infrastructure, retaining structures, foundations and service connections required to support the treatment plant and ancillary facilities.

Working alongside the wider project team, Chester assisted with the structural design and detailing of the treatment plant building, equipment foundations, chemical storage areas, pipe supports and associated civil infrastructure. The project also included site parking, fencing, landscaping and integration of infrastructure designed to meet Queenstown Lakes District Council engineering standards.

The completed facility delivers a reliable, future-focused water supply system, with robust civil and structural infrastructure supporting advanced treatment processes and long-term operational performance.
