The Geyser Building

The Geyser Building, located in Parnell, Auckland, is New Zealand’s first 6 Green Star Office Design-rated building, setting a benchmark for sustainable architecture. This office and retail complex, commissioned by Samson Corporation and designed by Patterson Associates, utilises just 27% of the energy of a typical building of its size.

The complex is comprised of five individual buildings arranged around central atriums and courtyards, connected by external walkways, stairways, and lifts. Chester Consultants provided essential fire engineering services, with a focus on prioritising occupant safety. Specific designs were developed to facilitate the safe evacuation of large numbers of occupants via stairs in emergency scenarios.
